  1. Provide technical advice and guidance on State wide essential medicines needs.
  2. Forecast and quantify essential medicines requirements from all public and private health facilities in the State
  3. Coordinate procurement of cost effective, quality and affordable pharmaceutical and medical supplies in all public and private health facilities in the State.

The department is responsible for sourcing funds from Government and other stakeholders to finance the activities of the Agency while adopting international best practices in managing the resources.

This is a unit under the diagnostics Department, that is shouldered with the responsibility of managing items intended to be used for the provision of health services in the Health facilities.

Examples of such goods are: Needle & syringes, Cannula, Sutures, Surgical gloves Infusion Giving sets, Bandages etc.

DIAGNOSTICS -This is the art, science or method Of Diagnoses especially Medical diagnosis or the discipline or practice of diagnosis especially of diseases.

DIAGNOSTICS DEPARTMENT -This is the Department that manages all that has to do with Laboratory Reagents, Laboratory Consumables, Medical Consumables, Laboratory and Medical Devices. The Department however has two Units, namely:

  1. Laboratory Reagent Unit headed by a Manager.
  2. Medical Consumables Unit also headed by a Manager.

Generally, the department has a head called the Senior Manager Diagnostics.         

The Medical Diagnostics Unit also:

  • Assist the procurement department in the Forecasting and Quantification of Health products and Consumables.
  • Conducts market Survey and analysis, a way of sampling a general population or target market where products are promoted, through evaluating Customer expectations and gabs in the market competitor analysis.
  • Helps in the procurement of Health products/Consumables and suppliers evaluation.
  • Identifies strength and areas of improvement in the department.
  1. To track health commodities supply chain performance expectation gap along the pipeline.
  2. To promote effective and efficient service delivery in health facilities to ensure patient and client satisfaction

The department is responsible for the following:

    • Coordinate and supervise planning processes, integrated supportive supervision and program monitoring at all levels
    • Initiate, implement, monitor and evaluate capital projects.
    • Support program review processes including periodic research.
    • Institutionalize total quality management for products, operations and in the running of the organization.
